The paper Offset Between Profiling Float and Shipboard Oxygen Observations at Depth Imparts Bias on Float pH and Derived pCO2, led by Seth Bushinsky (PI), has been published in Global Biogeochemical Cycles. The study compares Argo profiling float oxygen measurements with quality-controlled shipboard observations and finds a small but systematic oxygen offset at depth. These offsets can propagate into float pH adjustments and derived surface pCO2, affecting estimates of important ocean carbon system variables. The results highlight the importance of careful oxygen calibration for biogeochemical floats and for interpreting long-term changes in ocean oxygen and carbon chemistry.
